In this episode of How Do We Solve It, we speak with Xiani Williams and Ian Ragsdale of the Restorative Justice Mediation Program in San Diego, CA. RJMP helps victims and offenders, primarily youth, find justice outside of traditional justice processes. With a process that results in (although self-reported) an 8.5% recidivism rate and recovers nearly 80% of all negotiated restitution, Xiani, Ian, and I talk about how reintegrating personal accountability into justice can help youth learn from bad mistakes.
